It is a building of Jewish origin, with the lion of Judah carved in high-relief on the facade as well as other symbols, such as the sloth and the gates of Jerusalem. The name Black Cat comes from the fact that inside it has a sculpture reminiscent of the animal carved into the lintel of a door. It has the characteristics of a Jewish commercial dwelling. It is supposed to have been a synagogue.

The sparkling wines are produced from the noblest grape varieties such as Malvasia Fina, Gouveio Real, Cerceal, Chardonnay, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Pinot Noir. The lighter, more intense wines result from the Malvasia Fina, Cerceal, Gouveio Real, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional, and Touriga Franca varietals. These cellars are carved in the rock, in blue granite, reaching a depth of 72 meters.
